Author's Notes: I don't own Jim or Hank. I just borrowed them. Please read and review. And you should probably read The Dog before this one ..but you don't have to.

The handler.

He was lead by his instructor to a man. He was told to sit and did, taking in the man's appearance. He was tall, good build, strong. So far, they were matched up perfectly.

"This is Hank," he heard the instructor tell him, "he's a German shepherd and just perfect for you."

The man then placed his hand on his head, and said his name. Hank noticed the smile and felt hopeful that he could help him.

The man's name was Jim Dunbar, married, and he was a detective, Hank had learned over the past months. And in the beginning, he was unsteady as he got used to being part of a team. But Hank didn't mind, he was patient.

The harness was removed and Hank switched gears. He was no longer Jim's way of getting around, but he would be as soon as the harness was back on...but now it was playtime.

"Good boy," Jim told him, and Hank simply reveled in the fact that he had helped him through another day.
