Title: The Glasses

Raiting: K

Pairing: Jim/Christie

Summary: Jim's feelings about the shades he wears

The glasses.

He puts them on. Not to hide behind--well, sometimes. When he goes to a new place, when he knows he'll be on the receiving end of the double looks from others. At the times when it's all too much, when the stares and pity feel like a weight...he slides them on and immediately becomes calm. Like when Russo acts like an ass, they would be on then. Just as a barrier, and nothing more. They were something to take the hits for him.

But he takes them off when he feels he can deal with all that, when he's confident of his way around, and when she's near. When she's around, it's the same effect--except more than just calm. He becomes peaceful, as if nothing is different between the two of them, as if the past year was nothing more than a dream. Placing them on the table near the door, he smiled to himself, "Christie?"
