Prologue

As her heart was thumping in her chest, Aeryn Sun raced down the corridor with her weapon drawn. She could hear voices and running footsteps arriving from the opposite direction. She busted into the shuttle bay as the echoing sounds of the Pod's engines died away.

"Aeryn," D'Argo called out as he joined her.

Ignoring him, Aeryn hit her comms. "Pilot, are you tracking them?"

"Yes, Moya is following," Pilot's grim voice floated through to them.

"How...? Why?" Chiana grasped out of breath, after she almost ran into the back of D'Argo.

"I told you we shouldn't have taken them on board," Aeryn growled, making her way over to her prowler.

D'Argo knew she was right, growling in frustration and fear for his friend, he reached out to stop her. "Aeryn, wait."

"Aeryn, what of Nyka? Are you going to just leave your son?"

Without responding, Aeryn started to climb into the cockpit when Chiana's question causes her to pause.

D'Argo demanded, "Pilot, do you still have the shuttle on the scanners?"

"Yes, but..." Pilot broke off.

"Pilot?" D'Argo asked quietly, never taking his eyes off Aeryn.

"Moya has detected a Command Carrier head this way," in his excitement Pilot's voice grew louder.

Aeryn finished climbing into her prowler, glancing down at her friends, she flipped switches. Her voice vibrated with suppressed anger. "Chi, remember your promise to protect Nyka. I have to try to save John."

"Captain, there is another ship coming in fast," Pilot all but shouted.

"Peacekeepers? " D'Argo yelled in responds.

"No."

"Pilot, can you identify?"

After what seemed like an interminable amount of time, they heard Pilot's voice coming back over the comms in stunned whisper. "They're gone."

"Who's gone?" D'Argo and Chiana demanded at the same time.

"The Pod and the alien craft. They simply disappeared."

Aeryn started down at her console looking at what couldn't be possible, but the scanner wasn't picking up either of the ship's energy signatures. She glanced over at Chiana and D'Argo, her astonishment reflected on their faces. What had happen to John and his kidnapper? And that strange ship?

"Captain, the Peacekeeper Command Carrier has detected us we need to starburst now," Pilot barked in fear.

Aeryn was shaking her head. "No...we can't leave John."

With a solemn face, D'Argo ordered. "Get us out of here, Pilot."
