Gold and Velvet Blue
Cho Chang sits underneath a Magnolia tree. Her hair is loose in a silvery black wave and slender fingers trail over letters that shine in the bark. This tree is a strange one; magical in a way that few others are. Among students it is known as the lover's tree, and Cho Chang supposes it is in a way.
Couples come and go beneath this tree and it watches them with sweet-scented flowers and rustling leaves. Sometimes a pair will come back and see a symbol, a picture, with their initials carved underneath. They will smile then, for this means that their love will last.
Cho Chang and Cedric Diggory never visited this tree together. There was always a "Next time," "Some other time," "We will." Cho Chang regrets this now, because Cedric Diggory is dead and she has little to remember their love by.
She sighs as she watches a stag nuzzling a lily, burnished red-and-gold JP intertwined with emerald green-and-gold LE. What would she and Cedric have had, she wonders? A badger chasing a raven, CC in blue-black and CD in shining yellow? It comes as a faint surprise to her that she does not know what colour CD would have been written in.
A bell goes in the distance, and Cho Chang slowly gets to her feet. She brushes her robes done and walks off. She does not look back, trying desperately to suppress the tears rising in her eyes. If only she thinks. If only.
Behind her, a badger paws at a lightning bolt and the letters HP and CD burn gold and velvet blue.
