Legend of the Psy-Chiks
Chapter One
Visions
Katara sat on a boulder over-looking a small lake. She was so at peace there. The sun was setting in the background, the light reflecting off the water's surface, making it's beauty stand out even more than before. It, also, reflected off of Katara's blue eyes and had the same effect.
Suddenly, the sound of music drifted to Katara's ears. It was, what sounded like, a wooden flute. A beat was heard, as well, like someone was hitting a drum.
Katara looked in the direction of the sound and found it very had to turn away again. It was like she was being drawn to the sounds coming from the forest.
Katara got up and climbed off the boulder. She began to walk toward the sound, going deeper and deeper into the woods. The music was growing louder the further into the forest she moved.
Unexpectedly, Katara started hearing words mixed with the music.
'Voices of the times gone past
Come to us from the spiritland vast
They tell us of things to come
They speak of what we should become
Psy-Chiks of time gone by
Awaken now and here my cry
"Come to me, I summon thee
Come to me and let it be
Come to me, here my plea"'
Katara came upon a small clearing and watched as four females in face paint danced around a great fire, wearing only a small pinkish two-piece outfit. Four more figures wearing robes stood a couple of feet away from the dancers, watching as the ceremony continued.
Another robed figure came into Katara's view, only there was no hood and there was a horizontal diamond cut in the belly of the robe, showing off a black yin-yang type symbol, which started glowing the closer she got to the fire.
The figure was carrying a small leather bag and was holding it in front of her like it was something very special. The figure reached in and pulled out, what appeared to be, a pinch of a grainy substance. The person threw it onto the fire.
A great 'boom' was heard as the orange flames turned emerald green. Wisps of lilac smoke rose above the fire and seemed to start taking the form of a human.
A twig snapped behind Katara and she jumped and spun around to look behind her. Nothing could be seen and it was already so dark you couldn't really see anything in the first place.
Katara looked back to the ceremony only to be startled to find the female with the yin-yang symbol on her belly standing just a couple of feet from her, her face covered in red and black paint. The female had her arms Asian-style, with her hands inside the opposite sleeve in front of her. Also, her eyes glowed the same emerald green as the flames behind her.
"Go now, child. You have seen enough." The female said, but Katara was too paralyzed with fear to move, or even acknowledge the words spoken.
The female had a blank look as she stared into Katara's eyes. The female reached forward and pressed her palm against Katara's forehead and Katara felt an electrical jolt run through her body.
Katara gasped and sat up from her sleeping position. Her body was cool, except for a spot on her forehead where it was warm. She reached up and touched the spot, instantly feeling the heat start to diminish.
"Spooky." Was all she could say at the moment as she laid back down and thought about her dream.
What she didn't notice was a pair of glowing emerald eyes watching her from the edge of the forest.
