Kyoshi Makoto was half an hour late to class when he walked into Tohru's life for the first time.
"I'm so sorry, Misuki-sensei. I got lost… This school is big!" He admitted all this cheerfully, as if he didn't mind he was sounding like a total idiot. "And I lost my schedule somewhere in the halls, it took me a while to find it again." Again, the total obliviousness to his apparent stupidity.
"That's… all right… er…" Misuki-sensei paused.
"Kyoshi! My name is Kyoshi." He beamed at her, his almost-white hair that was dark brown at the roots framing his pale face.
"Yes, Kyoshi, welcome to this school. Class, this is Kyoshi. He moved here from…"
"A small village in Hokkaido."
"He moved here from a small village in Hokkaido. Please give him a warm welcome."
There were a few tentative claps. Kyoshi beamed again.
"Kyoshi, you may go sit next to Miss Honda."
He turned, still grinning happily, and sauntered over to the empty desk. "Hello, Honda-dono," he whispered, as Misuki-sensei continued her lecture. "I'm Kyoshi."
Both Hana and Uo turned in their seats simultaneously and gave him death glares.
They bounced off of him harmlessly. He kept on smiling.
"Oh… oh please, call me Tohru!" she hissed hastily, blushing, bowing as best she could in her desk.
"All right, Tohru-dono."
Her cheeks turned even redder.
Misuki-sensei paused. "Miss Honda, I am glad you are becoming attached to our new student already, but small talk will have to wait until after class."
"A am sorry, Misuki-sensei," Kyoshi suddenly piped up. "It wasn't Tohru-dono's fault. It was mine. I was talking to her."
Misuki-sensei paused, looked at him strangely for a moment, and continued on with her lecture.
"We'll talk later," he said, smiling at her. She blushed even more, and hid her face in her pile of books.
Uo and Hana exchanged knowing glances.
"It's true love!" Up said, swinging her bag around as they walked to the local café for an afternoon snack. "You two are meant for each other!"
"Your waves are extremely compatible," came Hanajima's emotionless voice. "I wouldn't be surprised if you two ended up marrying each other."
Tohru blushed furiously. "But… but…"
"And he called you Tohru-dono!" Uo interrupted. "I mean, can ya feel the love in the air or what?"
"As a matter of fact, I can."
"But guys…" Tohru was vainly trying to protest. "He doesn't like me or anything…"
"Of course he likes you!" Uo had to refrain from smacking her naïve friend on the head. "It's so obvious! Even Misuki-sensei noticed it!"
"His electricity is rather nice," Hana commented. "I wouldn't mind if you started going out with him."
"You mean… like… like a boyfriend?"
"What's this I hear about a boyfriend?" Sweatdropping, the three girls turned to see a curious Yuki looking down at them.
"We have found the perfect man," Hana said dryly, and flashed him with the Evil Eye before walking on.
"Er…" Yuki shuddered a bit. "Wait…"
But the three girls were gone, their secret well kept from prying ears.
