She walked onto the platform and looked around. Every face was foreign and strange. She was alone. Her dark black hair whirled around her face as she turned her head. The name she was given-Vesta.
Grabbing her luggage, she took out a paper, which had instructions that her mother had given her. It said…
"To get to Platform 9 ¾ you have to run through the wall between platforms 9 and 10. Don't let any muggles see you and have fun at Hogwarts this year! Love, mom."
Vesta folded the paper back into her pocket and took a deep breath as she stared at the wall she was supposed to run to. This would be her first year at Hogwarts. This would also be her first year in England. She had traveled all the way from America to England to go to this prestigious school. Her memories flew back to the time when her aunt and uncle had persuaded her parents to let her fly here to go to a good wizarding school.
So now, she was in England. An all American girl who did not know much about the country she was residing in and who had little former magic training. It was all-new to her.
This was it. Now or never. Vesta held onto her luggage and ran into the wall. At first it seemed like she was going to crash but then she felt her body jerk forward and stepped onto another platform. She knew she was in the right place, everyone had all sorts of creatures with them and the red train had "Hogwarts Express" engraved in gold lettering.
A conductor appeared from the train and helped Vesta get her luggage in the storage compartments. Then she was ready to board the train. From the roaring engine of the train outside, she entered the train and heard students talking even louder. Everyone seemed to know at least one person. No one paid attention to the girl with black hair who looked like she went to Hogwarts before. She searched for an empty compartment and finally found one all the way in the back. Sitting down, she sighed and looked at her surroundings.
The compartment was empty which made Vesta feel comfortable. She didn't really like huge crowds that much. Secluded places and serene bookstores, were more her style. Velvet and satin touched her skin as she sat back and let the train bring her to Hogwarts, where her whole life would change.
