A/N: I own nothing.
Hello there the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
And we'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
We'll wish this never ends.
-Blink 182
It had been a hard day at work and Aiden was home sick. Danny resolutely decided to stop by after work and see how she was doing. He knocked on the door, but when she didn't answer after a minute or two, he got nervous. He knocked again, swallowing down the silly panic that was taking over him.
"Aid?" He called loudly, and picked the lock on her door. He stepped over her shoes and peeked into the living room. She was in a pair of boxers and a tank top, lying on her couch, watching TV .He let out a sigh of relief.
"Why didn't ya' answer the door? I almost had a coronary."
"Cause' I knew you'd pick the lock."
He shrugged and moved her feet to the side, plopping onto her couch. She groaned.
'Don't move the couch around, I'll spew barf like a fountain."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Serious?"
"No. I thought it sounded cool, though. I think I'm done barfing."
"Good. I'm here to visit, not to baby-sit."
"Sure ya' are."
"Ok, maybe a lil' babysittin' too."
"I figured as much."
She studied him for a minute and then said, "I wouldn't be around here if I were you, you're gonna' catch the plague."
"Was that ya' discreet way of tellin' me to get out?"
"No, it was just a warnin'."
"Good, cause' I'm not done babysittin'. Get into bed and get to sleep."
She looked at her hands, suddenly finding her cuticles very interesting.
He went on "See, cause' I have a feelin' that this is more about the Costelli case than anythin'."
She was quiet.
"Look, Aid, we all get messed up on cases where the vic is a kid, but ya' gotta let it go."
She stood up suddenly, swaying, and Danny realized she looked quite a bit thinner. It broke his heart just looking at her. She pivoted on her heel and stomped to her bedroom slamming and locking the door.
He stood up and went after her, cause' didn't he always?
"Aid." He called through the door.
"Leave me alone, Danny." He muffled voice came through the door.
He sighed and picked a lock for the second time in ten minutes. She was lying on her bed face down, legs crossed, dark hair fanning out everywhere. He sat down on the edge of her bed.
He rubbed her back carefully, and even though she said "OWWWW!" loudly, he knew she was just being difficult.
"Come on, Aid, don't do this."
"I'm not doin' anythin'."
He sighed and pushed her over on the bed, taking off his jacket, and flinging his arm over her body, effectively pinning her to the bed. She tried to wiggle free, but he pulled her to him and held her there.
"Danny." She said in a warning voice.
"Aiden. Shut up. Go to sleep."
"I don't wanna."
"That's just to damn bad, if you're not gonna take care a' yourself, someone's' gotta."
She lay in his arms, pouting like a petulant child, but eventually she relaxed into his warm, toned body and allowed herself to sleep for the first time in days.
Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness comes creeping on so haunting every time
And as I stared I counted the webs from all the spiders
catching things and eating their insides
Like indecision to call you
And hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight
stop this pain tonight
