Enough

Guns had been her specialty, when the military was her calling.

Ever since she was a little girl, she was different, set apart from the others children. Her father had been an officer in the military, a quiet man with a one goal.

Riza Hawkeye, he'd say to her when she was little. One day, I will become Fuhrer, and change this cruel world.

Despite his erratic schedule, he always managed to make time for his beloved wife and daughter. Riza would always find herself clinging to his uniform, and breathe in the scent of gunpowder whenever she hugged him, after a long week, month, day or year of waiting for him to come home. Soon that feeling of longing turned into devastation, when he was dispatched as one of the soldiers to serve in the Ishbal war. She would fret every single day her father was gone, praying that he'd come home alive. When he finally did, she was overjoyed, yet that happiness was shadowed by her father's fatal wound to his legs.

She had always been fascinated by her father's equipment, even as a toddler. As a little girl, her hands had been quick with the parts of his gun, always managing to take apart and put together the pieces. She grew up to learn of her amazing precision with artillery.

Because of her father's injury, he was forced to leave the military. And so, Riza decided to do what her father started, but could never finish. She joined the military, where she met an arrogant Roy Mustang, and slowly moved up ranks after him. She promised herself many things. One of which to make sure that the female department would never be corrupted with miniskirts.

He told me that, Hughes whispered to her during a coffee break. That one day, he will become Fuhrer, and change the ways of this country.

Somehow, during her time at the military, Riza found that she was no longer working for her father or her own promise. Instead, for the will that her father had. The kind of determination that she wished she had, but couldn't find. The kind she saw at work everyday. Underneath his careful calculating lazy look, there it was. In the stance he held whenever he was at business, which really wasn't much. But it was enough for her.

So in the end, guns would always be her specialty, but this time, Roy was her calling.

A/N: Since we don't know very much about Hawkeye's father (well, at least I don't, heh), I had my own take about her family. Hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a review.
