'It's just the caffeine, makes me jittery."-Buffy the Vampire Slayer -Angel, 'The Prom'
The man I never knew
He walks to me, as if in a trance,
The same way he did when we shared our first dance,
I do the same, I take a few steps,
And at that moment, our eyes they met,
I look into his eyes so blue,
And discover the man never knew,
I'm not certain, but what I think I see,
Is a man, not a child, who could truly love me,
As I dream, he leans foreword and kisses my lips,
Then his hands move gently down to my hips,
When we pull apart, he touches my face,
I feel tears rising, and move into his embrace,
I close my eyes, feeling safe in his arms,
While thanking god his safe from harm,
I let the tears trickle over my lids,
I open my eyes to see a blurred image of Gibbs,
Tony pulls away, and wipes my tears with his thumb,
The warmth of his hand makes me stop feeling numb,
I stutter the words, "I missed you so much."
He takes hold of my hands, like he pined for my touch,
After a while, he says, "I love you."
I smile, then reply, "I love you too."
He rests his forehead against mine,
The connection between us makes me feel warm inside,
Time stands still, it's just him and me,
He's the only thing that matters, he's all I see,
That night in his apartment, we lay silent, nearly asleep,
This was a man I knew I could keep,
His fingers between mine, he brushed the hair from my face,
I place my ear o his chest and hear his heart pace,
At the sound of each beat, it becomes more clear,
Why we're together, why we're here,
The kisses we shared, said what we could not,
The love we shared, which we never forgot,
He was not afraid to say, 'I love you,'
This was the man I never knew.
