Chapter 1: Forest, the perfect hideout
Somewhere in the dark forest, in the witness of the ever-bright full moon, a wolf darted through the dense greens and leaped over all the obstacles. I long for this moment. It trusted its instinct at every blind corner, maneuvering its slick body, getting little help from the dim moonlight that shone down at it. Looking as if it was racing against the moon which was hot on its heels, it sped steadily for hours. Until it was deep in the woods, it stopped to take a breather. It howled loudly, somehow delighted about its victory over the moon, more importantly its desire for such freedom, such speed to be exercised in this world has been fulfilled.
In its mind, the thought of the perfect sanctuary for the rest of its life fogged. It had been months before it last did the running and cries of domination. Its eyes scanned the surrounding that looked so strange yet it felt like home nevertheless. The familiar smell of decomposed carcasses gushed into its nose as it took in a deep breath. The presence of other predators were also present as the urinal smell of other beasts' filled the air, the fresh-carven scars on the trees' barks and of course the carcasses that were still warm. The mild body heat cautioned it to stay alert just in case it was being watched and viewed as a threat entering their areas.
The stressful life in the city had caused it to be more vulnerable to the wild every time he changes to the animal form. Its acute hearing and sight in the dark had been getting worse. it continued its run till dawn then took a deep breath before it changed back to its old self -- the human self. De-de-da-lo-jer-de. His teacher had told him that will reduce its pain when it transformed back to human. Though it was used to it, nevertheless it would chant the words. Minutes passed, the long fur went back into its skin, the claws slowly retracted back and changed to fingers. The wolf face has been taken over by the handsome look of a young man. As the sun shone through little gaps between the canopies, he put on his clothes and strolled towards his house just outside the forest.
Tired but happy, he unlocked his door. He let out a sigh, thinking of his workload that piled high up on his desk. He dragged is fatigued body into his room and slept. The sun as if knowing the suffering he had went through, directed its beam to his office badge that read: Reporter Dj.
