"Don't be scared," his relatives had told him. "This is for the best. Cousin Bilbo will take good care of you."
But those were only the default words of comfort that any adult would give to a young relation, and Frodo didn't think there was a need for them. Bag End was large, and Bilbo was eccentric, but neither were what Frodo would consider scary.
That first night in his new home, Bilbo put him to bed with snacks and songs, telling exciting bedtime tales that would result in anything but sleep.
And as his uncle tucked him in and kissed him goodnight, Frodo wondered how a brand new bed could feel so familiar.
