It had been two years since the incident with Rachel, but Miranda Grey still couldn't sleep. She laid wide-awake in bed; each time she tried to close her eyes her mind would fill with horrifying images. She felt no one could replace Doug, she knew that he was gone, but that didn't mean she coped with it. The psyche ward seemed the make the haunting images appear even if she was awake, so she had moved out of her old house, and into a new one fifty miles way, and had gotten a job as the secretary for a company that made drills. It was hard adjusting from the dark, chaotic ward to the calm, bright headquarters of the drill company. Moving away had its advantages and disadvantages. She was alone. Of course she visited Pete, and she frequently called Chloe, but for the most part she was alone. Miranda rolled over and looked at the digital radio clock. Miranda groaned, it was 3:30 A.M. on a Saturday morning. She wished that the sun would rise and hopefully make this day any better. She looked at the phone that was lying by the clock. Maybe she should call someone, but whom? Pete was on a well-deserved and long overdue vacation, he had given her the number to the hotel, but for her life she couldn't remember. There was always Chloe, but Miranda wondered if she was awake, at 3:45. It was worth a try, talking to Chloe might ease her mind, and maybe she could get some things off her chest. She sighed, picked up the phone, and dialed Chloe's number (Oh God what a phone bill Miranda must've had) after five rings she was about to hang up, but she heard Chloe's voice.

"Hello?" asked an obviously sleepy Chloe

"Hey Chloe, it's Miranda" She could hear Chloe yawning, and she bit her lip.

"Hi Miranda, why so early?"

"I'm so sorry Chloe, I just couldn't sleep"

"Don't worry about it" Chloe smiled, causing her dimples to show. It was nice to hear from Miranda again. Now that she mentioned it, she suddenly realized she liked Miranda's voice, the sweet, gentle, caring tone seemed to sooth her. She had always thought Miranda was stunningly beautiful, but it was her heart that caught Chloe's attention. She tried her best to be kind to everyone. Chloe just couldn't help to be drawn to her. Chloe nearly started crying, but managed to stop herself. She knew there was no hope of Miranda being interested in her, she knew Miranda still grieved over Pete, and she probably wouldn't want to be in a relationship with another woman.

"Okay, how are you?"

"A lot better. Thank you again for everything. You saved me"

"You helped me, you saved me"

"Not as much as you helped me" Miranda was so special to Chloe, like something she had been missing, something that filled the black hole in her heart. When was around Miranda she felt like she belonged. Miranda put real effort into making Chloe smile, the things she did for her moved Chloe to tears.

"We both helped each other, we both saved each other"

Chloe's breath shuddered, and tears started falling. Miranda had done it again, she had moved Chloe to tears.

"Chloe are you okay? Is something wrong?" Miranda asked, her voice full of concern.

"It, it's just that…I-I-" she didn't know what to say.

"Chloe you can tell me anything, I promise"

"I-I-I think I love you" she blurted out, then she gasped. She couldn't believe she had just said that out loud to Miranda.
