Arms of an Angel

Sometimes he watched her sleep at night. And it didn't bother Mika, like it would most.
It actually was considered...
A comfort.

She didn't know if he had realized that she had seen him do this,
especially since he was so quiet about it. But he was quiet about everything,
It was so hard to tell with him. But even if he hadn't realized, she still wanted
to pay him back somehow. She still wanted him to know that he could come to her
if he ever needed it. Not that he ever would, mind you. Besides, he was dead. How
could he have needed comfort?

She sighed. Mika hated arguing with herself. It was a pain in the ass, especially when she had
other things to worry about. One day though... she had a chance...

She was sitting on the couch, once again. Mika had her fill of dinner,
Cold raviolies... Yum. They never reallysplurged on food, since she was the only one who ate.
Plus, as surprising as it might be, she wasn't that picky when it came to food.
She was waiting for a conversation, you know, the ones where he said a total of 5 words when
she said a total of about... 300. Waiting, so patiently.

He nodded to her, silently signalling that he was going to grab his guns from their
case, and would be back in a matter of 5 seconds. As she sat their waiting, she heard it.

The departing echo of footsteps, an airtight lock being opened, approaching footsteps...

And then a loud, reverberating sound of cold metal hitting solid ground. uh-oh.

She ran as fast as her legs could carry her to the sound, and saw a sight that
pulled at her heartstrings everytime.

There sat the most intimidating, cold-blooded, and yet, the gentlest most caring soul in what may be
the entire universe... In such pain and agony, Mika couldn't bear to watch. He was having amnesia again,
after so many weeks. He was on his knees, clenching his head, and she could almost hear him screaming
for release on the inside.

"Grave..." she whispered, taking a few steps towards him.

But when she saw the silvery tear drip off of his cheeks, she knew she had to do something.
With all of her strength, she ran up and pried his hands away from his face. He had no response but to
try and grasp his head again, only to have his hands replaced by the caring arms of Mika.

There he stood, on his knees, with Mika against him, her arms wrapped around his head, and
her head resting on top of his. She stroked his hair and whispered comforting words as he clutched her
body to him, muffling his cries into her neck.

As the pain eased away, he stopped holding her so hard, and simply stood there
for what seemed like an eternity before pulling away to look into her huge blue eyes.

Funny how he could literally kneel in front of her and be of the exact same height of, if not taller than,
her.

He reached over and brushed the hair out of her eyes, before standing back up. But he stopped
and bent back down, this time kneeling on one knee, and enveloped her into a hug. Her shaking arms looped
around his neck as he whispered a "thank you" into her ear.

That night, as he watched her sleep, he couldn't help but feel blessed to have been comfortedby the arms of an angel.
