TO BE A MISHIMA

Chapter 1

You may think that there is nothing immensely important about my life. You may think that I am evil and should be gotten rid off. You may think that I have no right to live. Before you make this decision, I want you to know something about me…

As always my mother was tucking me in by bed, even though I was 15, I still found it comforting. As she pulled the creamy white sheets over me, I noticed she was looking off- colour and slightly nervous. She shot a frightened look at the window and doors.

"Mum?" I asked.

"Yes…" she said distractedly.

"What's the matter?"

"Hmmm?" She looked at me innocently but I knew something was bothering her.

"You look worried", I sat up and held her hand. She looked at me guiltily.

"There's something I never told you", she said now looking into my eyes at the verge of tears, "about your father".

My father. She never talked about him, ever. She liked to keep these facts a secret from me and as I loved her a lot I respected this. But my urge to know further information made me ask her.

"Go on, what about him?"

"Your father…is…oh, Jin honey…It's Kazuya Mishima"

My heart gave a huge almighty jump. Was this Heihachi Mishima's son? The owner of the massive Mishima Zaibatsu?

"Yes, Heihachi Mishima's son", she said as if she could hear my thoughts.

"But how- how come you never told me?"

"I was afraid sweetheart, I wanted you to grow up away from all that", she said as this was unbelievably obvious.

"Away from all what? Wealth and power?"

"There's more to it than that, let me tell you…"

And she did, the whole thing. My father, Kazuya Mishima had the devil gene. This devil gene was what lured my mother to him and she took me away from him and Mishima Empire to live a peaceful and harmonious life. There was nothing much to love about Kazuya, he was nothing but a cold blooded murderer. I, for once in my life felt glad that I had never met him.

I never cared or even dared to ask my mother further information about him. He was dead and that meant I didn't have to. My mother had said that if anything ever happened to her, I was to go and live with my grandfather, Heihachi Mishima. I couldn't believe that anything could happen to my mum, it was utterly preposterous, she was too much of an excellent fighter. She was the one who had taught me what I know so far, the skills that led to winning the Karate Championship 3 years in a row. She was safe, and as long as I was with her, I was too.
