It was so beautiful. Suddenly everything was gone but his eyes. Dark, dark green, framed by dark lashes, the same colour as his hair. He looked strange without his glasses but she didn't really notice. Her eyes were in his eyes, swallowed by his love.
She saw herself in those eyes now, and, only now, only now that she knew he loved her, could she love herself.
"Ginny, will you marry me?" he had said. There'd been no fancy words, no metaphors of beauty, no long speech about how they had both suffered so much and how, through that pain, they'd found each other, just when they'd most needed each other. Just that, and himself, laid bare and open for her.
There had been so much pain in his life, and all she wanted now was to wash it all away.
"All I have is you," he said now.
It was true for her too; all she possessed in this lonely, cold world was him. But she knew she could continue on with life, if she had him. With him, the world was different; sweet and bright, almost too sweet and bright for her struggling body to take. Every moment with him was perfect, every single word from his mouth was music to her ears, every single facial expression was a picture that she wanted to treasure for everything.
That face, that beautiful, innocent, perfect face cracked into a wide smile as she answered, "You don't need to ask, Harry."
And, just like that, Ginny had found her happy ending.
Inspired by "You" by Evanescence. Fans of her that haven't heard it yet are really missing out – it's her best song, the most beautiful.
