In a small clearing at the centre of a forest, sat a girl of about 15, ruby eyed with short black hair and purple tips that fell over her eyes. She held up a small twig embedded with jewels, such as jade and onyx, and pointed it north. She then walked slowly in a clock-wise direction saying:
"This circle is a positive field, a protective shield."
She walked the circle again, saying:
"This circle keeps me safe within, no harm can enter in"
Again she walked the circle, this time saying:
"This circle will enhance my spell ensuring that I cast it well"
She faced north and traced a pentacle (five-pointed star) with the twig. She repeated this, facing east, south and west. She then walked to the centre of the circle and sat down.
"Uphold the witch's law we must,
In purest love and earnest trust
Please think before a spell's begun
'If I harm no one, then no harm is done
For what I do comes back to me,
Multiplied by the power of three'
If followed with my mind and heart,
We'll merry meet and merry part
If followed with your mind and heart
We'll merry meet anon"
She pulled the small rucksack off her back, opened it and pulled out a small stone with a hole in it and a piece of green ribbon. She then threaded the ribbon through the stone, tying 3 knots to secure it, and then chanted:
"Imbue this stone with luck for me, multiplied by the power of three. God and Goddess hear my plea. If it be your will, then let it be"
She placed the stone around her neck and tied it so it was now a necklace. Next she pulled out a purple candle, a small wicker basket, a bell and a small gold ring. She lit the candle, placed the ring in the basket, and then sealed the lid with a small amount of candle wax. She held up the basket and concentrated on the glow of the candle for a while, before ringing the bell three times, not taking her concentration of the candle, then chanted:
"Spirits on this special night,
Collect my past and hear my plight,
I mean no harm but do entreat,
A future blossoming and sweet"
She rang the bell.
"Spirits on this special night,
Collect my past and hear my plight,
I mean no harm but do entreat,
A future blossoming and sweet"
Again she rang the bell.
"Spirits on this special night,
Collect my past and hear my plight,
I mean no harm by do entreat,
A future blossoming and sweet"
She rang the bell for the last time. She then dug a small hole with her hands beside her and placed the basket inside and covered it with dirt. She then closed her eyes.
"Well done you and by the spirit, god and goddess, Thank you."
She then stood up and pointed the twig north and started to walk the circle in an anti-clockwise direction, whilst saying:
"I do not break this circle but this circle is undone,
The spell that I have cast it has begun,
Mindful of the witch's rede,
Now the magic has been freed,
I will harm no one,
Yet if harm is done,
It shall return by the power of three"
She then gathered her stuff and walked of into the night.
