A/N: This is only my third story, my first non-sex one at that. Hopefully, it's okay.

The sun was starting to set. Jack rested his elbows on his bent knees. It had been a long day. He touched the key at his neck. As angry and upset he that he was with Locke, he didn't want Shannon to kill him. Jack knew that Locke was hiding something, something important. He needed to know what it was. He needed to know if it had anything to do with Boone's death.

Suddenly, he felt a light touch on his shoulder. He started.

"Sorry." Sun sat down next to him. "I just wanted to check up on you," she said softly.

Jack didn't respond.

She laid a hand on his knee. "You should probably get some sleep."

He looked at her hand, small and warm resting on him. He remember how competent she had been with Boone.

"Jack?"

He looked at her. She looked tired. Her hair was tucked behind her ear. Her eyes caught his.

"Jack," she tried again. "You've had a long day."

"Thank you."

Sun frowned. "For what?"

"For helping me with Boone, for the eucalyptus for Shannon, for planting a garden, for everything."

"It's nothing." Sun shrugged and looked at the water. "Everyone pitches in and does what they can."

"No." Jack laid his hand on hers. "Thank you for what you've done for me."

She looked at him. "Oh." She blushed.

They sat there together, almost touching, watching the sun set. After a few moments Sun stood up.

"Jack, you should eat and get some rest."

Suddenly, he did feel tired. It had been a long day, a long week really. Hell, it had been a long month for that matter. He smiled up at her.

"You don't give up, do you?"

She smiled back. "No, not really."

"Are you going to drug me if I don't," he half teased.

She caught his eyes. "I don't think I need to."

She held out her hand. Jack looked at it and then at her. He took her hand and let her help him up. It had been a long day and he needed some sleep. He let Sun lead the way.
