This is completely different from anything I've ever written. All of my frequent readers will agree. I hope you like it.

009 stood on the deck of the Kazumi beach house. The sun was setting and he could see two figures in the distance. He didn't need to see their faces to know who they were: 003 and her newest boyfriend. He closed his eyes and exhaled slowly to stop his anger and jealousy from rising. He watched as the stranger of a man kissed her goodnight and turned around to leave. His eyes followed her small form as she climbed the stairs with delicate steps.

"Oh, hello 009! I didn't expect you out this late."

"I could say the same to you," he said calmly. She dropped her smile and raised an eyebrow.

"What are you my parent? What's wrong 009?" She asked as she noticed the pained expression that crossed his face.

"It seems as though you are with a new guy every week. You're last date lasted for a couple of days!"

"If that is so I have you to thank." She spat out bitterly. 009's eyes widened in surprise at the hateful words.

"What are you saying Françoise?" he asked angrily.

"You can call me by my number. That's all I am to you anyway." She demanded softly.

"You are wrong about that."

"Am I? Am I really that far from the truth 009? You hurt me over the years we've been together. You never once gave me a second glance when there was another woman around. Whenever there was someone else their safety was more important, their needs came first."

"They were human-"

"They were another female. Just another girl you could charm! None of them felt for you like I did. I waited patiently for so long. I waited for too long before I realized that you were never going to change."

"Françoise you know I've always cared about you and still do!"

"No more Joe. You've ripped my heart into too many pieces. I can't let you take yet another." 003 walked quickly towards the door fighting back tears. When she grasped the handle she turned her head to look at him.

"I've been waiting all of my life for you Joe, it's you that just didn't want me. And now that you do, it's too late. You have yourself to blame. All I have left is to sit and remember all the times I did share with you, the few that they are, and wonder whether things could have been different. I wish they were different. I wish with every remaining bit of my heart. You've taken the rest." They stood there and stared into each other's eyes for a long while. 009 finally dared to speak.

"I'm sorry Françoise."

"I am too.. J…009." 003 hurriedly went into the house closing the door behind her with a sharp thud. 009 sank into a chair and put his face in his hands. Tears streamed down as he realized that he would never get a second chance with the only girl he ever truly loved.

"I have a wish too," he whispered to the night air, "I wish that you would believe me Françoise. I wish that I could pick up the pieces. I wish… that you would love me too"…
