Disclaimer: I do not own anything in relation to the Finding Neverland film or the Peter Pan play, though how I wish I could. However, I do own Aubrey Redford.
Six months after Peter Pan and Sylvia's death.
"James , come and look at this article in the paper." Emma du Maurier called to James Matthew Barrie, who was reading a book in a chair across the room.
He placed his opened book face down on a table and went over.
"Why would they even put an article like this in the paper. It's slander! And, it's six months after the play! What ARE these people thinking?" Emma said, thrusting the paper at James.
"Well. This is something I might have expeted if no one liked the play, or, even better, right after it debuted. It was written the day after opening night." he told her.
"James, I think you should go and find this woman. She is jeering you, and she can't even do it to your face."
"Well, I'll go and talk to her. Maybe I'll make her understand what it's about, her mind seems to be clouded with, with, with adult matters. Maybe I can drag the child out."
"Oh James, don't be ridiculous! This woman honestly seems to have something against having some fun, or maybe just something against you. Probably a friend of Mary's."
"Perhaps. But I shall go and have a talk with her anyway."
"Of course you would. You're the most stubborn man I've ever met in all my life. Go ahead try and "drag the child out" and tell me how it goes."
"I say we make it a bet."
"What?"
"A bet, I'll bet you, ten pounds that I can drag the child out of her in at the most, five months. What do you say?"
"I say you've just lost ten pounds James Barrie."
A/N: Pounds, British money, in case anyone didn't know, because if I didn't that would sound pretty weird... Review!
