Dear Sister,

This is the account of Sailor Deidre:
I was born in a poor family in Russia. I was an only
child and I enjoyed it. My parents loved me and I loved them. Life seemed
normal, for a while. I knew I was poor and could not enjoy many luxuries,
but I had my parents, until my twelth birthday. My real birthdate is
uncertain, but it was sometime in the winter. My parents showered me in
gifts. I got bracelets with onyx in them. New skirts and blouses sown with
black thread into them. I never understood why they liked black, but I did
not care. My favorite gift was two ravens. I named them Rhea and Ptera. They
were my only friends. That night it was very cold. I wore ALL of my clothes
to stay warm. The next morning, the village priest came to our hut, he found
my parents frozen in their beds and I was hanging on a thread-of life and
death. I found out I had to go live my aunt. She lived 50 miles from my
home. When I arrived, I found the stone house which my Aunt lived in. She at
first welcomed me with new black robes and plenty to eat. Later she told me
that I must do the chores of the house. That was fine to me, I lived doing
chores. As soon as I could walk, I did chores...

The this story shall be continued in my next letter.
