My own little post-Intoxicated fic. Featuring (as always) John and Olivia. John finds Olivia in the precinct and they talk. I realize John probably sounds OOC. It's harder to write serious!Munch than I thought. I like sarcastic!Munch better.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything from Law and Order: SVU.
Olivia walked into the empty precinct feeling dejected and depressed. Walking over to the area where hers and Elliot's desks were set together, she took her normal seat, letting her head hit the desk. She could feel a presence enter the room, not caring who it was, until she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was the last person she expected.
"Oh, hi John." She said, turning her head to see who it was.
"Everything alright?" Noticing the lack of emotion in her voice, John became curious. He knew that this latest case was taking its toll on her – he just didn't expect it to be this bad.
Olivia sighed, "Yeah, fine." John cocked an eyebrow. That look always got to her because it looked so funny on him.
"No it's not. Don't lie to me, Liv."
"I told Casey to plead her out, now I'm not so sure I made the right decision." She stared down at her desk. "I've been wrong this entire time. What if I'm wrong about this, too?"
Grabbing Elliot's chair, John sat down next to her, trying to meet her eyes. "Do you feel like you made the right choice? What does your heart say about it?" he asked in a hushed tone.
"Huh?"
"Don't listen to your head, listen to your heart. It knows best."
Olivia laughed, "When did you become so spiritually inclined?"
John shrugged, "Probably somewhere within the last five minutes, although I swear I read all that in a book once. Point is, only you can decide if the decisions you make are right or not. Just follow your heart." As an after thought he added, "That has to be the biggest cliché ever."
"The bad thing is, you're right."
"Am I? That's scary." He ominously asked before getting up and walking over to his desk. After grabbing a folder from his drawer, he went back over to Olivia. She raised an eyebrow and he showed her the item he picked up. It was just his cell phone. Probably forgot to take it with him earlier.
"Come on, I'll take you home."
"Just one thing," she said. "Do you think I made the right decision?"
John faked a confused look, "Hmmm? What? What were we talking about? Right decision about what?"
Shaking her head, Olivia followed him out of the precinct. His words echoed in her mind, building her confidence in herself and taking away any doubt she had left about the choices she made in her life.
I'm going to go hide now.
