I Am

I am one of the superior,

An angel of Cruxis who guides this world,

Respected and praised by all,

Worshipped by human and elf alike.

- - -

Yet I am one of the inferior,

A half-elf who was always mocked,

Eyed with scorn and disrespect,

By both human and elf alike.

- - -

Both of my bloods hate me,

Yet both of them love me, in a way,

Once scoffed at, once laughed at,

Then praised as a legend and a hero.

- - -

I was considered a dirty outsider,

Cast away from my home village,

Forced to drink muddy water,

Then I became an angel?

- - -

Worshipped by all and praised by all?

Previously struggling and suffering?

Is this what an angel deserves?

Must all of them go through the same pain?

- - -

Slowly losing their souls for wings . . .

Slowly losing their emotions for praise . . .

Forgetting about their past misery,

Forgetting about being called dirty names.

- - -

What it means to become an angel,

Is to forget the insults thrown,

Live an endless life without a thought,

No thoughts about those stupid beings,

- - -

I am both inferior and superior,

Once a half-elf mocked by all,

Now an angel praised by all,

I share the blood of those I hate.

- - -

I am the lowest of the low and the greatest of the great.

But . . .

Who am I, really?

In case you couldn't tell, this is a poem about Mithos. Yep, he's both inferior and superior . . .this poem just came to me suddenly. Meh, if I had made it rhyme, it wouldn't have been so easy to write. LOL.

BTW, here's the disclaimer:

Disclaimer: I don't own Tales of Symphonia.
