Thanks to Sarah, the EC for looking this over after knowing me for what... five days? You rawk. And back off of me about From the Ashes! Can you WAIT for next chapter? Ever been with a man who's in love for the first time? Damn, chillax!
David was sweating when he returned home. He was in a tizzy, a literaltizzy. The day had been, eventful to say the least. He hadn't remember sweating that much since he had been to the gym, and that was someyears ago.
He hadn't meant to, but he made such a commotion when he came in thathe woke up his fiance. Janel awoke and trudged her way into the livingroom, hearing her fiance's entrance, becoming frightened. Her robe wastight around her, hair touseled, lips drawn in a large yawn. She was gorgeous, but there was time to tell her that later.
"What-" she was cut off by another large yawn and plucked it off withan open palm. " What the hell are you doing, sweety?" She plopped herself down on the overstuffed chair and sighed. This hadn't happenedin awhile, it must have been quite a case.
David looked at the love of his life, sent her a lopsided smile andtossed his jacket across the room. "I, uh, wait hun." David nodded his head vehemently and popped a DVD into the player and sat back down onthe couch, tossing an arm over his eyes. "You would not even believe the day I have had."
True, she probably wouldn't, so she didn't bother asking.
She smiled at him and hopped from the chair to the couch, next to him.Janel laid her head on his shoulder. It would have been nicer if they had been lying in bed, but she would take what she could get.
David just sat back, tossing the DVD remote from hand to hand, glancing from his near-wife to the television and waited for the theme music to play. When she realized what he was watching, she gave him a skeptical look and sank back down into his side. It was a few seconds before she dissolved into laughter, but when she did, it shook the whole couch.
"You're kidding me, come on now." Janel's hand on his chest made him laugh as well, but he chose the episode he wanted to watch and snuggled down into the couch with her.
"Wanna watch with me?"
She only smiled at him and pulled the afghan off of the back of the couch and draped it around him. "Take off your shoes, honey." David did as she suggested and yawned, bigger than she had done earlier.
She wanted to ask which episode, but he'd chosen so fast she was unable to see. His eyes were unnaturally focused on the television and she wanted to laugh at him again, but held off. "Hon, you know every word to every episode."
Dave shook his head back and forth, neither conforming nor denying her claim.
Janel sat through only a few minutes before she sat up and let her jaw hang slack. "Flukeman, Dave?"
David simply nodded and kept his eyes trained on the screen, carefully watching Special Agent Fox Mulder spit out one of his annoying diatribes, eventually calling his trusty partner Scully to help him. His lips tipped up just a bit when Mulder called his partner, and Janel went off on her on diatribe.
"You know how I hate the episodes without her! She's amazing Dave, can't we watch 'All Things' or... I don't know, 'Syzygy', or 'Never Again', for chrissakes?" She was really too tired to argue, but she had to try anyway.
David kissed her head gently and turned back to the television. "Hun, you don't know the day that I've had."
They both turned back to the television and watched the fluke slide of a man's throat, both cringing. It was just, such a good show...
