I've got the homework blues

'Finally done',

Irma Lair sighed before closing her essay for math and brushing it aside,

Math had never been 'her' thing; she usually went to Taranee for her Math-related problems,

But today, with many thanks to her brother, Christopher, she was grounded,

So she had to do her homework, including Math, at home, alone.

She had spend her entire free day at this assignment on the 'Sinus' type of math,

and she really hoped she got it right,

Her Father, the 'police officer from hell' had really made it clear that if she Flunked math, there would be 'serious'

Consequences, Irma hoped she never had to find out what those 'consequences' really were.

Irma leaned back in her chair to let the cool breeze that came from the open window play with her hair,

she sighed while her eyes darted longily to the phone,

she knew the phone was off-limits while she was grounded, but still,

she really wanted to call Taranee,

Just to find out if her answers were the right ones,

she really needed high grades for math. But if her mom found her on the phone,

Talking to friends, she would be in a lot of trouble,

and it certainly would be trouble with a capital T.

Irma sighed again

'Two possibilities:

One, I go and Call Taranee, find out about the answers, then hang up, and if I'm REALLY lucky, don't get caught,

Or two: I don't call Taranee, I don't get punished and I won't find out the answers.

PAUSE

This probably would result in me failing math,

Which certainly would result in one pissed-of, almost retired, angry, old police officer by the way'

Irma gave the phone a thoughtful glance, before sighing yet again.

'Who would've thought, mom was actually right, being a teenager absolutely SUCKS'

'Suddenly the door started shaking, loud bangs were heard from behind it, thundering like the thunderstorm raging outside,

Yellow lightning occasionally lighting the room in an eerie golden glow, followed by seconds of complete darkness,

A beast was trapped behind the door, a beast that wanted to be released. A beast that was driven by bloodlust and hate.

Slowly, my hand went to the doorknob, I didn't want it to, but I was powerless to stop it.

Seconds passed while my hand was reaching for the door, closer and closer my hand went,

until it finally reached it's destination and I could touch the door..

my hand lying on the knob, slowly bringing it down…..

Bring bring!

Taranee, disturbed by the sudden noise, gave a little scream while the book she was just reading fell to the floor,

'what was that?' she asked no one in particular while she tried to catch her breath.

Bring bring!

Closing her eyes with a sigh she took the horn of the cradle and held it to her ear

'hello?'

------'Hey Tara, it's me, Irma'---

'Irma? Weren't you grounded?'

-----'yeah, I am, look, I don't have a lot of time, but could you PLEASE help me out here?---

'help you out, with what?'

'I just finished the math assignment due tomorrow, could you please take a look at it, and see if I did it right'---

'Sure, no problem, just picture the answers in your head and I'll do the rest'

'thanks okay, I'm picturing----

'I noticed'

----'right'---

'Irma?'

----'yeah?'----

'why is your assignment about 'sinus'?'

----'what?'----

'why is your assignment about 'sinus', it should be about 'Pythagoras' '

-----'What are you talking about?... Page eighty-nine right? ….Here it is…page eighty-nine…Sinus!'----

'Irma…. It was page ninety-eight NOT eighty-nine, and it IS about Pythagoras'

'no no no no, I'm sure it was page eighty nine, it says so on my Homework planner, here…Thursday, Math, page….oh shit.'---

'Irma? What?'

----'I'm SO screwed'----
