Skies of Blue, Heart of Black

Disclaimer: Do I look like JK? I do not own any of the characters you recognize, they've graciously offered to be in my fic-

Sirius (tied up in chair): SHE LIES! WE ARE PRISONERS! SHE TORTURING US, I TELL YOU! TORTUR-Mmph!

(Author reties slipped gag and clears throat)

however, the plot is mine, and if it is in any way like someone else's, I have not stolen it from them. And, of course, if anyone takes this plot from me…well. polishes wand and gets ready to fight

Now that that's cleared up, on to the fic!

Skies of Blue, Heart of Black

Ever notice how one little thing leads to another? And then that little thing leads to another and another and pretty soon it creates a whole chain of little things that aren't so little any more, but more like one big, huge THING that changes you life forever? Take, for instance, the fact that if mom had just ordered pizza like I had asked her to, instead of making that liver and bean dish, I would not have left dinner early to go outside. So I would never have seen that brown Cadillac driving down the street. I would never have seen it stop in the house next door. And I would never have seen the person who had turned my whole world upside down get out of that car.

Turns out, that same person was moving in next door. Next door, in that old abandoned, shabby house that all the little seven year olds used to dare each other to go into. It did look as though it had come out of a horror film, with its filthy windows so covered in dust that it was impossible to peer into, and its creaky front porch that looked ready to collapse at the first sign of pressure. And then there was the NOISE. The horrid, awful, ear-splitting shrieks that rang through the still night air and seeped through your skin, coating your soul with ice. But probably the scariest thing about that house was the people who lived there.

When they first moved in, they seemed normal enough, (though, thinking back they WERE slightly stand-offish). The family consisted of four people: a woman, presumably the mother, (with an upturned nose and a face that clearly told anyone that she was better than them and she knew it) a father, (who had a broad chest and strong build) the younger son, (he took after his father in size, and had a grin identical to those of the boys at my school, the ones who ran up, pinched you, and ran away laughing) and his older brother ( unlike his father and brother, he had a lithe body and looked about my own age, 11). There was that pile of cloth the woman was carrying, which I swear I saw MOVE. But, of course, when I later told my parents they simply sniffed, said very coldly that it was only drapes, and I received a smack for my troubles. I only saw it once anyway, then she, the…whatever it was, and the rest of her family disappeared inside the old house.

That night, no matter how hard I strained my ears, I couldn't hear the screams that usually sounded every night from next door. And the only thing scarier then hearing them, was not hearing them drown out the sounds of the night.

And things got really strange the next day. The day I met their son, Sirius Black.

So? What do you guys think? Let me know. Chapters WILL get longer. REVIEW! )
