Love

He turned away from her; unable to look at her when he said it. His hair and haori swayed in the wind. She had this pleading look in her eyes when she asked; she needed him, he knew it. Almost as much as he needed her. She had approached him after the had set up camp; they had settled down after their last attempt to win a shard.

This battle seemed worse then any of the rest of them. Miroku was badly injured after being thrown to the side; he landed with much force on a sharp bolder. As Sango reached him and hugged onto him, she was stabbed with a tentacle from the beast. Yes it did seem much worse then the rest of the battles...

Kagome was laying limp and still on the ground covered in blood; the beast had just stabbed her a few times with his tentacles and laid her to rest. Inuyasha screamed her name, while tears burned down his face. He killed that demon with a flick of the wrist.

Kagome finally stirred as Inuyasha was dismantling the beast, crying out how the beast killed Kagome and now he himself was worthless. All she did was whisper his name and he was by her side. He cried upon her; it was the first time she had ever seen him full force cry.

"I thought you died," he whispered to her. Her only response was to kiss his cheek and hug him; with that hug he grasped a hold of her and it felt like he could never let go. No he didn't ever want to let go. They had finally ended their hug and decided to set up camp.

It ended up more of Inuyasha setting up camp then the rest of them. Kagome could move around but Inuyasha insisted on her to lay and rest. Miroku and Sango laid together resting. While Inuyasha was out to get wood, Kagome forced herself up; she needed to know.

She had caught him ripping some trees apart. "Inuyasha?", she called. Then he had turned to her, his eyes still burned with tears. "I need to know something," she whispered so low, yet he could still hear. He nodded at her, wiping tears away with his haori. Shakingly she continued, "Do you, do, do you love me? Am I not just a shard detector anymore?"

Then is when he turned, he couldn't answer her truly looking at her. She was never really just a shard detector; yes he said some stupid things when he was angry, but he never meant any of them. The wind started to settle and he simply said, "Yes."

"Inuyasha," she called again, "if you do love me come here and tell me." He turned to her, and with taking three graceful strides, he cupped her face and kissed her lips; he whispered into them, "Yes, I love you." She wrapped her arms around him with as much force as she could prevail, giving herself into the kiss.

When their kiss finally came to a halt, which seemed to go on for centuries, he stared into her eyes; "I never thought of you as just a shard detector" with a smile on his face he added, "you cook, too." She playfully smack his arm and told him she loved him also, and that he provided the meat well enough at times.

He whisked her up in his arms and started in on her again, "Now didn't I tell you to rest? Weren't you just about killed, eh baka?" As he walked back to camp to set her down she nuzzled her head upon his chest; she knew her trips through the well now meant more then ever.
