Note : This is only a prologue, or a summary - whichever you prefer. Anyway, I'm posting this here as I had a sudden urge to do a Star Wars-related fiction. Probably because Episode III is just around the block. I'll only continue this if you people/readers encourage me too. This was done in a rush so it might not be very good (suck). I hope you enjoy it anyway, please review. Thanks in advance.
The cruiser shook once more, violently in the dark vacuum of space. The shaking caused further scattering and disorientation of electronic devices. Tiny electrical sparks shot out from the fried control panels. Dozens of corpses dressed in the standard crew uniform of a Republic starship littered the grounds and released a rotting smell into the air. None of those touched him though.
None dared.
As the near-death cruiser slowly drifted through space, nothing inside stirred. All were still and silent – except for a slight beeping noise originating from the navicomputer. A distress beacon; it would summon rescue.
He licked his lips in anticipation. Rescue meant the presence of people. Live ones. He could hardly wait for them, yet somehow he found that he could. He would wait as long as was needed. He will…
Stretching forward, he focused his mind once more. There was something out there he had sensed. Out at the very edge of his psychic circle but… Yes. A passing freighter heading for a planet called Dantooine. In the far recesses of his mind, he could recall Dantooine – a peaceful planet with its economy based entirely on agriculture; but more importantly, there were lots and lots of settlements.
So with his powers of telekinetic persuasion, he nudged the mind of the freighter's captain just enough so he would consider heading towards this direction, just close enough to be able to intercept the distress beacon. Of course, the captain would have no idea why he had this urge to change course – and no notion how he had suddenly acquired these coordinates – but in any case, it was an urge his will was too inferior to fight.
"The harvest will be soon."
