A/N: Sorry for not posting anything in a while! I'm still looking for a beta for my other stories, but I suppose a small dribble wouldn't help. I've been watching Tsubasa Chronicles as of late, and they just showed the episode involving the three MKR spirits. I just typed up a quick dribble about how Rayearth got to Syaoran before the others. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Tsubasa Chronicles, only the goddesses of CLAMP do.

The dull thumping of the rain echoed dully in his ears, yet he paid it no heed. His mind reeled in shock and despair at the sudden realization. She had forgotten him.

While he'd known from the minute the dimension witch had asked her price, it hadn't real sunk into until now. When he gazed into her wide, bright eyes and saw no recognition of himself, he'd cracked.

Having known those confusion emotions himself, he knew she may lash out at him, hit him, or even break down and cry. Yet this was Sakura, his princess and childhood friend and to do as he had done would go against her true nature, her very soul. No, she had just cocked her neck and asked, 'Who are you?'

It was then that his resolve had hardened. It had just taken those three heart wrenching words to spin his world around. His path had been set. If he couldn't love her and shower her in admiration and compassion, he would be her guardian, and watch from afar.

After Fai had taken over for him, answering her many questions, he'd fled. As his mind fought to process the overwhelming situation that he'd been faced with, his body had sought more peaceful ground. No caring, he'd dashed out into the fierce squall.

Now, as he stood beneath the downpour, the hidden wetness drabbled down his cheek. They could not see him cry. They could never see him cry. No one could. As far back as he could remember, crying had always been a sign of weakness and he was not weak.

Flinching, he glanced down in time to see a shimmer of orange. As his Kudan forced its muzzle into his hand, he broke into a sad smile. Rayearth, sensing its master's despair, nuzzled more firmly, demanding Syaoran's attention. The flames of its fur were a comforting presence in the icy cold rain.

Taken aback by his Kudans comfort, Syaoran hesitated before enveloping the fire dog in an awkward hug. Enveloped from the world in a pillow of fire, Syaoran let the droplets flow freely down his face.
