This story is based on the song "Danny Boy", an old Irish tune. Those of you who know this song know what is going to happen, but those of you who don't, well, just read and find out. This is the first fanfiction I have published, but no the first I have come up with.

When all the Flow'rs are Dying

Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling,

from glen to glen, and down the mountain side,

the summer's gone, and all the roses falling,

it's you it's you, must go and I must bide.

Kurama hated lying to his mother, but he had another mission from koenma, and te world needed t be saved once again. It was early on a mid-autumn day, and his mother was at work. He would have to go, and leave his mother behind once again . She would be worried sick, and he hated worrying her.

He got to koenma's office, and was sent out with the others. This mission would be a long one, at least a month or so. The orders were simple: track down the criminal, defeat him, and bring him in. But in reality it wasn't that simple. The demon was known for being untraceable. It wasn't that he was strong or anything like that, just like finding a platinum needle in a stack of silver ones two stories high.

But come ye back, when summer's in the meadow,

or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,

'Tis I'll be there, in sunshine or in shadow,

Oh Danny Boy oh Danny Boy I love you so.

After 43 days, they finally came home, but life would never be the same for Kurama.

But if ye come, when all the flow'rs are dying,

and I am dead, as dead I well may be,

ye'll come and find the place where I am lying,

and kneel ad say an Ave there for me.

Shiori had gotten in an accident riding the bus home from work. The bus had been hit by a runaway thief, which had sent the bus rolling. She had survived for about a day, but had eventually died. The funeral had already passed, and she was buried in the local cemetery.

Kurama waked down the road to the shrine, and knelt down beside his mother's grave. "Farewell, mother" he said in whispered tones. He laid a rose down by the tablet that read Minamono, Shiori, Loving mother, loved by all.

And I shall hear, tho' soft your tread above me,

and all my dreams will warm and sweeter be

if you'll not fail to tel me that you love me

then I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

"I love you, and I always will, mother" Kurama said as his last words to shiori.

Meanwhile, In sprit world, Shiori heard her son, and her soul was finally at peace.
