Disclaimer: Naruto no own.Happy?
Swish. Swish. The soft of the curtain billowing in the wind kept Naruto up. He lay on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. How long had he been here? No recollection of time passed him by.

All he remembered was blood. Screaming. Fires.

There were 283 tiles in the ceiling, he noted briefly.

What happened? He couldn't say. Chaos was there, yes.

Among other things. Screaming. Cries. Roaring. Was that Kyuubi?

Yes.

He remembered flashes of it.

Turning, so that his back faced the curtains, Naruto closed his eyes briefly.

And the power of Kyuubi was great.

A pearly white tear streaked down his pale skin, leaving a trail, easily seen in the moonlight.

Breathing in small even breaths, the heartbeat of the small vulnerable boy echoed softly throughout the room.

Slowly, slowly, he began to sleep.

Nightmares. Yes. That was what plagued him everynight. Cries. Fires. Seared into his brain.

Somehow, he knew it was the Kyuubi. He was trying to break him down. Trying to break the mental seal.

Well.

Naruto was tired, oh so tired. So tired...nearly giving up, Naruto could sense the Kyuubis screech of triumph. One last nightmare.

And it would all be over.

Falling deep into sleep, the little boy started shuddering, although no cries escaped. Twisting in his bed sheets, trying to find a way to stop it.

Stop it.

And a figure silently crept in.

Slowly, but surely, a dark figure neared the bed. Cold eyes view the squirming boy in the bed, but softened, as strangled cries emerged.

Already well deep into his nightmare, Naruto trashed around, whimpers erupting every few moments.

But he stilled. Stilled as a hand descended.

Almost in a loving caress, the hand smoothed the bangs from Naruto's sweaty forehead. Whispers could be heard, soothing low whispers, designed to comfort the quavering boy.

Naruto stopped moving, although his breath came in ragged huffs. Almost instinctively, both hands of the stranger held the small boy in its ever warm embrace, chasing away his demons.

The boy's breath evened out, a peaceful smile on his face as he buried contentedly into the soft fabric.

Inside, the demon howled angrily, trying to lash out at who dared to interfere with his plans. But still, Naruto held on. Even though there was no logical reason why Naruto should cling on...but he did.

There would always be someone there for him, he knew. That person would never leave him, he knew.

And he would always love him, he knew.
