Brinkmanship

Brinkmanship: The policy of pushing a dangerous situation to the 'brink' of disaster

Okay I think I need to explain a little bit. I'm watching the episode were we find out about Garra's past and why he is the way he is and I noticed a lot of similarity's between him and Naruto (insomnia non-withstanding) And it got me to thinking (I know be afraid) What makes these two kids who grew up in a very similar manner so very different. And then the answer came to me, and here it is in fan fic form!

A small child that could be no older than five sat under a large tree as the rain poured all around him. He was cold and wet and though the rain-washed away the tears his eyes were puffy and red from crying.

All around him the people under their umbrellas walked past not seeing or not wanting to see the light that once burned bright in his eyes go dim. And the voice he'd known since he had first drawn breath slowly became clearer.

Hush little kit I'll make this all better, we'll make them all pay.

Dark and blood red mixed with pure light. Fading, fading black the demon eating him alive from the inside. So cold and so alone and the darkness was so warm.

Shh…Shh… little one don't cry. Their blood shall pour down soon as the rain is now. And they shall know how they hurt you and with each life we snuff out ours will burn brighter.

And the people all around him just kept walking by. Unaware uncaring of the tiny soul they crushed, the danger they were slowly walking towards as the demon gave the child what they never did.

Kill them and devour their flesh, feed off their pain and show them the horror they have wrought upon themselves by neglecting one as pure as you.

One of the people turned and saw, saw the sky blue eyes slowly bleeding to red and he came to the boy with a hand held out.

"Hey."

The boy turned and the voce slowly faded back out.

"What's your name?"

"Naruto."

The persons face changed, recognition, fear, disgust then…understanding?

"I'm Iruka, it's nice to meet you Naruto."

Iruka smiled and the darkness fell away like the rain all around them and Naruto took his hand.

"I'm going to get some ramen, do you want to come with me Naruto?"

The boy smiled and walked beside Iruka his hand still holding tightly on to the others. The people all around them had no idea how close they had come to the brink.

And there's the answer! Iruka! I love him I mean think about it for a long time all Naruto had was Iruka and Garra only had that creepy femmy guy who was only using him. The difference was Naruto had some one who truly cared for him and wanted the best for him while Garra didn't. Wow amazing the difference one person can make huh?
