Disclaimer: I really don't own anything here….most of the talking is taken out of 'Calvary'.
Authors note: This is just something I thought of while watching Calvary and thinking 'Damn you Lilah! Why did you have to walk in on them at that exact moment!'.
"This is hopeless. The orb of thessula is the only way I can find to restore Angels soul. But its only works if it's moved on to an afterlife or something – Not floating in a jar somewhere." Fred said desperately, walking in the office in the Hyperion, where Wesley was researching at the desk. She placed the book she was reading from onto the table and walked towards the bookcase, running her hands through her hair. "We'll find a way to bring Angel back." Wesley replied, standing up and walking towards Fred. "How?" She asked, turning around to face him. "The way we always do; skill, perseverance…' Wesley paused, '…Luck.' Fred smirked, 'Not a lot of that going around.' She replied, leaning against the bookshelf. 'We'll be alright.' Wesley said. 'As long as we stick together…' Fred finished, looking him in the eyes.
Wesley looked down, 'Fred…What happened between me and Gunn…' He moved closer. 'I didn't mean…that's not what I wanted. Could you tell him that?' Fred looked away, 'I don't think he'll listen. We're not…' She looked up at Wesley. 'We're not together anymore.' Wesley looked at her, a glint of hopeful in his eyes, 'Oh…not because of what I did?"
'Things just haven't been right. Not for awhile.' Fred replied, looking at him.
Wesley continued to gaze at her for a moment before stepping forward. 'I think this is the part where I'm supposed to say I'm sorry…and I'm really trying to be but…'Wesley looked down, and then back up into Fred's eyes. 'It's no secret how I feel about you. But, I'm sorry about what happened…I had no right….'
'Wesley,' Fred cut in, 'Charles was right. Something inside tells me to go straight to you…always. You have always been there for me…saved my life…'Fred stopped, and looked down.
Wesley walked forward and wrapped one arm around her waist. Fred looked up as Wesley put his hand around her neck. He leant down and kissed her gently. He broke away to see Fred's eyes closed. She slowly opened her eyes and stared into Wesley's. 'Do you want me to stop?' Fred softly shook her head and Wesley kissed her again, this time more passionately.
He pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, as Fred wound an arm around his neck.
They backed up into the bookcase causing it to rattle, Fred giggled into Wesley's mouth.
When they broke off they stared into each other's eyes, leaning their foreheads against each other.
"Wow." Fred whispered. "You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that." Wesley replied.
"What since this afternoon?" Fred asked innocently. "A bit longer than that." Said Wesley, kissing her forehead.
A bang echoed through the hotel, the front door opening, which caused Fred and Wesley to jump apart.
Cordelia and Lilah walked into the office, 'Any progress?" Lilah asked. "Not really." Fred said, walking towards the desk.
"Pity."
"I've made some headway cross-referencing but there's no telling how long it'll take to get anything definitive." Wesley replied turning around to face them. "But you have made some progress?" Cordelia asked. "Sure looks like he's trying." Said Lilah, staring at Fred and Wesley.
Wesley looked at Fred, "You've no idea."
