Hello, I'm making another slight attempt.
I don't own anything.
Kyo was staring into space. It was the middle of summer, and he had nothing to do. Yuki had gone off, and being the damn rat he was, had taken Tohru with him. Shigure was with his editor.
"I can't even train," he muttered. "It's too damn hot for that…"
Knock, knock-
"Huh?"
Knock, knock-
"Ok, I'm coming! Dammit," Kyo muttered as he walked over to the door. "Yeah? Who're you?" A girl stood outside. She wore black cargo pants and a black tank top. Her hair was black, and her eyes shown black as well.
"Is Shigure home?" she asked.
"No."
"Yuki?"
"No."
"Anybody?"
"Me! Damn, who the hell are you?" Kyo had gotten fed up.
"Who the hell are you?" she shot right back.
"Kyo Sohma."
"Cerces Sohma."
"You're my cousin?"
"You're as much of an idiot as everyone says."
"DAMMIT! SHUT UP!" She cleaned her nails of some non-existent dirt, totally oblivious to his yelling.
"Look, I need to talk to Shigure, and since you're not him, I'm just going to have to come in and wait until- what was that?" she asked. She cocked her head ever so slightly, then shoved him inside.
"Whaa?" Kyo shouted, totally taken by surprise. He fell back in a most ungraceful manner. She crouched by his side, as quiet as a lion on the hunt.
"Shh!" she whispered. "There's somebody here who's not supposed to be." She jumped from her place by his side to the couch to a beam hanging over the doorway and knelt there.
"Look, I don't know who you are, but-"
"I told you. Cerces Sohma. I'm the Panther."
"There's no such thing!"
"Damn cat," she muttered. "Somebody's walking up the steps." Kyo could hear it too, a faint thud, thud. Then the bell rang.
"Kyo-kun, I know you're in there," a voice rang. "Come out, come out." Cerces had a look of terror on her face. Kyo didn't look much better.
"Please don't tell him I'm here," she whispered.
"Why?" Kyo shot.
"Why do you think? He's looking for me!"
"Are you sure?" As skeptical as Kyo was, he couldn't help but feel that her thought did make a little sense. Why else would Akito pay them a visit when he knew that no one else would be home?
"Yes, I'm sure!"
"I'll only head him off if you tell me why you're so scared later." Cerces thought for a moment. Later. That was such a non-specific word. She could tell him ages from now…or he might not even remember. Yeah, that's good. Oh the other hand, telling him was a problem. If he knew everything…well, that's not even an option. And since Shigure was in the house…
"Deal," she said before she could change her mind. Kyo grinned and opened the door.
"Hello, Kyo," said Akito. "Where is she?"
"Who?"
"You know who. You were just talking to her. Cerces."
"I don't know who you're talking about."
"I know she's there."
"Kyo, get out of the way. I'm going to find her."
"No. She's not here." Akito paused and stared at Kyo. Kyo stared right back.
"Very well. But I'll be back," he said softly before walking down the drive and away. Kyo smirked at his back and closed the door. He looked up, only to discover that Cerces had disappeared.
"DAMMIT!" he yelled. "WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?"
