Title:Fear
Author: Tekli
Rating: K
Genre:Angst/Tragedy
Pairings: None, unless you REALLY want to interpret this as Sirius/Hermione. Then feel free.
Warnings: Um... some pretty obvious name-related symbolism. Mentioned character death. Hermione angst.
Spoilers: For book 5.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter doesn't belong to me, and I don't claim that it does. I am making no money from this.
Hermione had never been one to be afraid of the darkāsuch an irrational, useless fear. The dark was nothing but the absence of light. Nothing malicious.
Now she found herself putting a small jar of blue flame near her pillow each night.
No, nothing had been the same since Sirius had died. Harry was practically killing himself with guilt. Ron was distressed at both Sirius's death and Harry's depression.
Oh, Sirius had been the brightest star in the sky, but his light was gone now, and nothing was right.
The absence of light could be a terrible thing indeed.

Author's Note: Ah, this wrote itself. Sort of. First version was begun by flashlight during our 7th grade trip to hike a mountain (which was awesome, I might add). Not so successful. Overblown prose, and waaay too long to express such a simple idea. (I must say, it was fun to write, though.) THIS version wrote itself. 100 words on the first draft. I took that as a sign from God, and didn't mess with it, except to swap the locations of two words.
Reviews are appreciated, but please don't feel pressured. (I do like questions... but praise is good, too --not that my ego needs feeding--)
