She was crying again.

It was the third time since that morning, and he doubted she would stop any time soon. Her sobs were mostly muffled since she had locked herself in the bathroom, but each cry tore his heart anew.

Grabbing his duffel bag, he decided to make one last attempt at a goodbye before his taxi arrived.

He knocked once.

"Relena?"

Silence.

"Relena? Thecab will be here soon."

A whimper.

He sighed softly,

"We already discussed this Relena. You knew I wouldn't be able to stay when we decided to test...this."

Despite her tears Relena managed a small sardonic smile. Even now, after four months of dating, he still had a problem acknowledging that they were in fact, in a "relationship".

"Open the door, please?"

She sighed. This was all happeneing too fast. It was only a few days ago that they were sitting on the couch, her cuddled in his warm embrace, breathing in his scent. A spicy sweet smell that had somehow found its way into every nook and cranny of her home. With his impending departure, the smell would undoubtedly invade her mind and assault her memories.

"Relena, will you please open the door?"

She wanted to open the door. Every fiber of her being was screaming at her to open the door. Kiss him, hold him, love him, caress him, beg him not to leave.

Her heart wanted her to do and say alot of things that her mind couldnt translate fast enough into legible words and expressions. But for whatever odd reason, her body refused to move. Instead, it continued to do what it had been doing for the past three hours.

Cry.

"Relena!" He said angrily.

He was angry? He had the audacity to be angry! She wasn't the one that waltzed into his life and started the "relationship". She wasn't the one that was leaving, he was.

She felt used. Dirty. Rubbing the goosebumps on her arms she stared at her barefeet, tears causing them and the floor to swirl together in a collage of pink nail polish and white tile.

"Relena! Why are you doing this!"

'Why are you leaving!' She thought bitterly. Her whimpers had ceased, yet water still pooled in her eyes and rolled down her stained cheeks. Occasionally catching at the corners of her mouth, the salty taste filling her mouth and making her feel even more miserable.

A distant honking noise lifted her from her miserable thoughts, causing her to bolt upright and stare at the door in a panic.

This was her last chance. She came close, horribly close to opening the door. She stood there in her nightgown, staring at the grains in the wood, her right hand loosely grasping the gold plated handle.

She couldn't do it. Her hold wasn't tight enough. She wasn't strong enough.

Multiple honks came this time, rapid and impatient.

"Alright Relena, I have to go. If I have time I will call you."

'If I have time?'

Her face crumbled and she had to cover her mouth to keep from crying outloud. Putting her back to the door she sank to the floor in defeat, her nightie catching on the wooden splinters and hiking it up, allowing the cold tile to freeze her rear and chill her already cold body.

She sat there for awhile, crying until the tears just wouldn't come anymore. Even after she had finally come to some state of relaxation, she just continued to sit there. Now that she had calmed down however, she was in a reasonable frame of mind to answer his question.

'Relena! Why are you doing this?'

"I coudn't say goodbye."
