Hermione Granger slowly opened her eyes. Sunlight poured in through her open whidow. She allowed herself a small smile before disentangling herself from her sheets.

Argh, She thought, as she remembered an extremely graphic conversation that she had over heard the previos night.

Draco Malfoy's voice penetrated her thoughts like fingernails on a chalkboard:"Blaise, tell us again about your bloody brilliant shag that you had last night."

Why, of all places, did they have to choose the library to discuss their nocturnal activities? It was a bloody library for Pete's sake! For book learning, not sexual learning, or dicussing for that matter.

Hermione muffled a groan as she dove under her pillows once again, simply trying to rid her mind of the word that kept repeating in her head: "I fucked her sensless!"

While Hermione was truly honored to be named Head Girl, she was less than pleased to learn that her partner in action was none other than Draco Malfoy.

Draco loathed her and that was a known fact, but true to her nature, Hermione never complained, never told anyone about the names or taunting. She just continued on. She firmly believed that everything happened for a reason. So, Dumbledore must have had a damn good reason for selecting the pair.

Hermmione was a changed girl this year. Something mysterious had happened to her over the summer: she had discovered her true identity.

Her mother, the person that she loved and trusted most in the entire world, both Muggle and magical, had betrayed her. Jenny Granger was not who she claimed to be. She was no Muggle.

But why would she lie? That single thought reverberated through Hermione's mind over and over. She was left wondering.

Hermione was also surprised in her strange amount of faith in the young Malfoy heir. Her hope was nearly tangible, she could almost feel it waifting towards him, in an honest attempt to inflitrate his thoughts. Her faith in him was unquestionable for an unknown reason. She knew that somewhere in his cold, unloved heart was a genuine feeling, not a protective barrier.

She was determined to break his icy exterior. Little did she know that the same was in store for her.
