Bluepaw padded over to the apprentice's den. Lionpaw sat and watched her come over. Bluepaw was exhausted. Halftail had given her a long work out. Fighting was just not a skill she had.
"You look tired." Lionpaw commented. "Want me to get you some fresh kill?" Bluepaw nodded weakly. She lay down and closed her eyes. Every muscle in her body hurt.
"Bluepaw," a voice said behind her. She looked up. It was Tigerpaw.
"Hello."
"Are you feeling alright?" He asked. "Maybe you should go see Sunpelt about it."
"No I'm fine," she replied. "I think after I eat I'll go and see Frostfur's first litter." Tigerpaw nodded and walked away. A moment later Lionpaw returned with a plump vole and a chaffinch. He sat the vole in front of her. After they finished Bluepaw went to see the young queen's first litter.
"Hello, Bluepaw!" She said when she entered. Next to her sat two small kittens: a spotted one and a black one.
"What are there names?" Bluepaw asked.
"Spottedkit and Ravenkit," replied Frostfur.
"Their very nice," said Bluepaw. "Has Duststar came to see them yet?"
"Yes he has." Bluepaw said her good-byes and left. On her way back to her den Halftail stopped her.
"Duststar wants to see you." He said. "Practice in the morning. Meet me at the entrance of the camp." Bluepaw nodded and headed off to Duststar's den. She stood at the bracken and hesitated.
"Come in," he said in a rumbling voice. She did so. Bluepaw had never been in the leader's den before. It was round and Duststar sat on a pile of moss.
"I wanted to see you for two reasons." He continued. "One, you have been training for many moons now and I believe you, Lionpaw, Tigerpaw and Goldenpaw should become warriors in a few moons.
"Also I believe you've been having trouble with Halftail, am I right?" Bluepaw wasn't sure what to say. Slowly she nodded.
"Well I have noticed some unnecessary sctatches on you and have fired him from his job." Bluepaw was shocked. "From now on I'll be your mentor." Bluepaw almost fainted.
