A Girl's Best Friend

Chapter One

"Inu-Yasha!"

Inu-Yasha scowled. He was tired of his friends always bothering him when he got into arguments with Kagome.

"Just go back and make up with her, Inu-Yasha!" Shippo pleaded. "She's been gone for three whole days, and I'm starting

to miss her already!"

Inu-Yasha turned away from him. "How come I'm always the one who has to apologize?"

Shippo stood there, speechless. Inu-Yasha knew the answer already. Kagome had left because she saw him with Kikyo.

"What the heck is her problem, anyways? It seems like everyone time she sees me with Kikyo, she has to run off crying

back to her era."

Sango approached him, carrying Kirara in her arms. "Well, if I were her, I would probably do the same," she said. "It

would hurt a lot to see the man you love with another girl."

Inu-Yasha looked up. "What are you talking about?"

Sango shook her head. "Never mind."

"Inu-Yasha, just go and apologize to her," Miroku said. "We still have to keep looking for the jewel shards before Naraku

does, and it can't be done without Kagome. She's the only one who is able to locate them."

Inu-Yasha sighed heavily, and looked down the ancient well. He knew his friends were right. What other choice did he

have?

Meanwhile...

Kagome Higurashi sighed as she climbed out of the ancient well in her era, and heaved her heavy backpack behind her.

She felt depressed and mad at the same time. She could remember the exact words Inu-Yasha had said to Kikyo. "I love

you, Kikyo. I will never let anyone else have you."

Those words broke Kagome's heart. It was quite obvious to her that Inu-Yasha has chosen Kikyo. It was just the way

it was going to be.

Tears continued to fall from her eyes. I can't let anyone see me like this, she thought.

Just then, Inu-Yasha climbed out of the ancient well, and was shocked to see Kagome crying.

"... Kagome?"

She turned around. "Inu-Yasha... -"

"Kagome, I'm really sorry," Inu-Yasha interrupted. There was a long moment of silence.

"It - it's OK..." Kagome replied, talking between sobs. Inu-Yasha suddenly felt really guilty. Had I really hurt her that

bad? he wondered.

Inu-Yasha walked up to her, and and gave her a big hug. Kagome was surprised, but shehugged back.

"Will you come back?" Inu-Yasha asked, whispering.

"Yes," she said, wiping her tears away. Now she felt a whole lot better.

Gently, Inu-Yasha took her hand, and they both jumped into the well, transporting them back to the feudal era.
