Firefly

A/N: Thank you very much for those of you who replied to my other poem with such kind comments. I hope you all enjoy this one as well.

Fragile, pale, delicate

Seemingly insignificant, this firefly girl

Her light shines so weakly

Surrounded by brighter others

Lost in the cosmic darkness

A child of two worlds

She belongs to neither light or dark

Alone in the night she stands

Can this be the one to save all?

Condemned, misunderstood, she is scorned by others

Crystalline tears, more precious than jewels, are shed in secret

The only testament to silent suffering

She cannot falt them

They know not what they do

So rare, infinitely precious

Her like has never been seen

She knows not her true value

But the demons of the night do

Thrust into shadows, they try to destroy her

Cloaking her, seeking to obliterate her

Attempting to extinguish the already dim glow

It flickers; once more she weeps

Bound by fate

Loss

Silence

Now she understands, she knows what she must do

Shine brightly firefly girl

Revealing her hidden, pure, cleansing light

Chase away the demons firefly girl

Alas, it is too late

One with such luminosity

Cannot exist long

Darkness she has banished

She has taken it upon herself

Drawn the blackness in

The glow flickers and dims

She has paid the price

Fading. . .

Into. . .

Nothing. . .
