Tall in Blue

Standing tall in your blue, the uniform identifies you

you carry a gun and your ID

you command authority even when things get out of hand.

I thought that night was like any other

you at work and our daughter in bed;

I never worried that you might be in trouble,

you've come out of worse before!

But then we got the call,

the call most families dread:

I remember it all so well.

I was baking your favorite pie.

The phone rang at one-thirty A.M.

The Fuher on the other end, asking if I could come down,

My husband was gone, he said, killed by a man who'd lost his head.

A clear blow to the chest, in one end, gone through to the other end.

The doctors pronounced him dead.

A few later you were in your blue

Looking so fine and good,

But the only difference was

You were going to your grave instead of coming home.

Black-Angel-001: this is a version of an original poem i wrote titled Standing Tall in Blue. the original version should be up in the tv series category under csi cause there isn't a category for cops.
