CHAPTER :The News
Johnathan looked around at the Kents newly rebuilt house, and sighed.Ever since the meteor hit the house, Martha, Johnathan, Clark and his friends, Chloe Sulivan, and Lois Lane, with friends of Loiss father, who was a general in the army.
"Dad, are you okay?"
Johnathan turned to face Clark. He looked his son up and down, sighed again and smiled. He was going to miss having Clark around the farm to help with all the heavy lifting. It seemed like yesterday when they found him in that cornfield, now he was off to college in Metropilis. He looked at Clark and replied, "Just tired from all this hard work,Son."
A worried look crossed Clarks face briefly, then dissapeared. "Youre working to hard, Dad.Its bad for your heart. You need to relax some."
Johnathan felt a smile cross his face, and laughed softly. "Clark, your starting to sound like your mother."
"Well,I know what she means, Dad.Your going to hurt yourself." Clark looked so worried, that Johnathan couldnt help but laugh again. "Seriously Dad,rest a little."
Johnathan reached over and put a hand on his sons shoulder. "Clark,Ill be fine. You just worry about you, stop worrying about the rest of the world."
Clark sighed and walked off, not looking all that convinced.
That night as the Kents were eating dinner, the phone rang.
"Ill get it," Martha said, getting up from the table. "Hello?"
"Does a Mr.Johnathan Kent live there?"
"Yes sir, here, let me get him." Martha turned around and mouthed to Johnathan, 'Phone for you.'
"Yes?"
"Your third cousin , Luke Johnson, has recently passed on and had left you his foster child. She will arrive on Wednseday of next week.Im sorry for any inconvenice this has cost you." The guy sounded sincere.
Johnathan sighed wearily. "Okay.Whats her name?" A few moments later he got off the phone.
"Who was it Johnathan?" Martha asked, looking concerned.
When he quickly finished explaining, Clark sighed. "Im really sorry, Dad.Do you want me to stay home a little longer and help?"
"No,no,Son.You need to start college. If you put it off,you might not get there." Johnathan said quickly.
Clark looked at his mother. "Your Dads right, Clark. You need to go to college."
Clark sighed."Allright.But," he looked at his dad, "only if you promise me you wont work so hard."
Johnathan laughed. "Allright, agreed," they shook on it.
