This poem is written from Kai's point of view…
The Darkness
I sit alone in my comfort room,
Alone in the dark.
It's cold, I know,
But the darkness surrounds me,
Like a blanket keeping me warm.
It keeps me warm,
Caressing me like a mother would do to her child.
The Darkness is like a mother I never had.
I've always lived in the darkness,
It has become my home my security
Whenever I feel like the world has turned against me once again I turn to it.
For here no one judges me,
And it holds no expectations that seem impossible like everyone in the light does.
Most are scared of the dark,
It reminds them of the future fait of death.
But as the world becomes harder to deal with,
People slowly fall into their greatest fear.
You can hear their high-pitched screams asking for someone to save them
But no one hears.
Their pain and fear sketched on their faces.
But I just sit back and watch.
A small smile upon my lips,
But at the same time I'm puzzled
As I look around my scared area
Wondering why these people act like this place is worse then the real world.
The Darkness is my sacred place.
Where I can retreat when all seems in possible.
Where my hopes and goals are in reach
And no one doubts me or puts me down
Where my thoughts are at peace.
You may not like The Darkness,
For this I still haven't figured out.
But that is where The Darkness and I are one in the same.
People judge me and ignore what I have to say.
Just like The Darkness…
They treat me like some beast that can't be trusted and will pounce at any moment.
Just like The Darkness…
They are cautious around me like I'll steal all they own.
Just like The Darkness…
All I've ever wanted was to feel what it's like to be loved.
Just like The Darkness…
To be have people approach without a tremble in their hands.
Just like The Darkness…
Break
My mind swirls with confusion, lectures and hatred shone toward me.
Slowly I'm drowning in the voices.
I'm filled with hatred and coldness to all those around me,
I just want to scream
I'm about to give up…
Then I enter The Darkness once again.
This free verse poem was written so it's like never-ending so the last paragraph is like what starts it at the beginning. I just wanted to say that so your not like 'What? Where'd that come from?' If that makes sense…
