Brendon chortled lightly, staring at the crimson and white sphere in his hand. "May's not going to be happy about this!" he smirked, seeing a tiny figure of a Cyndaquil, a very rare little creature around everywhere, especially Hoenn. May loved fire Pokemon, and it would give her a shock that her rival/friend/partner would discover a rare one in Lilycove.

He looked around. First the department store, then the art museum…nothing to see here…except…he looked timidly towards the shore. "Maybe I'll just go to the beach before heading home…" he inferred lightly to himself. The sun was going down, the sky turning a solid shade of red. "Oh well…" he headed down to the beach, shrugging.

"Hey…" he saw a girl with a crimson hat, a small yellow bag, and long brown hair sitting on the shore, her back to him. "May! Hey May!" The startled girl spun around.

"Oh, Brendon-kun!" she smiled warily, sitting down again onto the slightly moist sand. "You scared me."

"Gomen," he grinned apologetically. "So, what're you doing here?"

"Oh, yeah, I…" she sounded embarrassed. "…I-"

"C'mon May!" he pushed her lightly, sitting next to her. "You can tell me! We're friends, remember?"

"Well, I come out here once a week to watch the sunset…" she sighed and stared at the colorful sky contently. "It's nice, getting away from all the stress of being a trainer, and…I don't know…it just relaxes me."

"That's cool," Brendon said simply, looking at the sunset for a minute himself. "You know, it is pretty cool, May…" he stared at the swirling colors of pinks, oranges, and yellows. They seemed to fly like doves in indescribable patterns.

"Even for oh-so-uber-cool Brendon?" she asked teasingly. Brendon flinched. "Just kidding, little boy!" she giggled as his face turned pink. So they sat there for a while, captivated in the sunset's beautiful features.

"Um…May?"

"Yeah?"

"Here," Brendon handed her, with the same pink tinged face, the Pokeball containing Cyndaquil. "I caught him earlier today, and, I know you love fire Pokemon, and-" his embarrassed babble was cut off.

"Brendon!" May gasped, bringing the Pokeball up to the light. "You're so thoughtful! Aren't these super rare?" she asked, already knowing the answer. "Thank you!"

He smiled nervously. Her praise was somehow much more satisfying than showing a Pokemon he caught off to her. "You're welcome…"

He blushed as May set her hand lightly onto his, her skinny fingertips curling slightly from hesitation. He pondered for a second, then brought her hand in his, gently squeezing it. May's eyes met with his, and lingered, until they both smiled. Then they stayed that way, watching the radiant beams of the sun setting slowly into the horizon.
