Disclaimer: I don't own Gilmore Girls or the song sung by Shania Twain.
A/n: Just a little something that stuck in my head after listening to Shania Twain's "I Ain't Goin' Down" Ok, as you may notice while reading this, there are a couple of differences from the song and the show. 1st-Lorelai had Rory at 16 not 15. 2nd-Lorelai did hear from Chris again. I'm telling you this now, so please don't yell at me. Review, but don't waist your time or mine by flaming. Enjoy!
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe is so strong
No matter how long, no one
Can tell me I'm wrong, I ain't goin' down
Dear Emily and Richard,
I had a baby at fifteen
Daddy never did forgive me
I never heard from the guy again
I had to drop outta high school
Everybody treated me so cruel
But I didn't give in and give her away
You know I've always been independent. Now is no different. Rory and I are leaving.
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe is so strong
No matter how long, no one
Can tell me I'm wrong, I ain't goin' down
I won't let my daughter be raised as I was. She deserves more. She deserves to hear "I love you" from her mother.
Her smile got me through the day
And every night I'd pray
I could give her enough
At night I'd lie awake and cry
Hopin' we'd get by
'Cause you can't live on love
I know I'm a disappointment to you. But I would be a disappointment to myself if I were to stay here. I have to go. I have to prove to my daughter that there is more to life than fancy cars, prep schools, and cotillions. I need her to know that money isn't everything.
I worked night and day to keep us goin'
Through the sweat and tears
Without her knowin'
It was worth it just to watch her grow
Oh, oh, at least I was able to hold her
Whenever she needed my shoulder
I'm so glad I never let her go
I know that you love her and will be saddened by out departure, but please don't try to find us. When I'm ready for you to be in our lives again, you will be.
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe is so strong
No matter how long, no one
Can tell me I'm wrong, I ain't goin' down
I don't know if you'll ever be able to forgive me, and I don't expect you to. But I have to do this. For my daughter, and for myself.
Her smile got me through the years
Dried away the tears
And filled me with hope
At night I'd lie awake and cry
Prayed we would get by
And for the courage to cope
Oh, oh, oh
Please don't worry. We'll be just fine.
Her smile got me through the day
And every night I'd pray
I could give her enough
Goodbye. For awhile, anyway.
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe is so strong
No matter how long, no one
Can tell me I'm wrong, I ain't goin' down
Love,
Lorelai and Rory
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe is so strong
No matter how long, no one
Can tell me I'm wrong, I ain't goin' down
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
