Disclaimer: Naruto's not mine. Never will be.

Author's Notes: Just a very short ficlet. This is also un-beta-ed, therefore, there would be some grammatical errors or typos here and there. Mind you, English isn't my first language. This ficlet's been bothering me ever since I've watched Sasuke and Naruto fight at the Valley of the End.

Oh, if in case after you read the ficlet and wondered if it's shounen-ai or not. IT IS! But if you don't want it to be shounen-ai, just imagine it's not. :D

Dedicated to Iceheart who's now beta-ing my other fic "Life in an All Boys' School". I don't want to burden you with another so I already posted this besides, it's only a ficlet. :D

Ame - Rain

Rain poured endlessly at a lone figure that stood over the unconscious boy at the edge of the Valley of the End.

The battle was at its end; the emotions had reached its peak and already have gone dry. Yet even if the landscape's somewhat changed, the statues of the two Hokages are still standing proud and the water still pours.

Nothing has changed at the end.

The black-haired boy, who stood over the unconscious boy, doubled over and coughed out blood, almost involuntarily splattering the blonde boy's limp locks. Sasuke knelt down and leaned over Naruto.

The boy was sleeping and looked peaceful.

He looked dead.

Sasuke's eyes softened as he looked over the sleeping blonde, he felt cold, not only the rain drenched his clothes, but it drenched his worn-out soul. They gave their battle everything they've got and probably more than they've even intended. Emotions got entangled with the affair which wasn't supposed to happen, yet, it did.

The bond that connects them thinned but did not break.

Sasuke felt for his hitai-te, as he felt the familiar wet cloth of the hitai-te, he turned and placed it on Naruto's side, a symbolism that he wouldn't be able to go back with him.

The rain continued to pour down from the heavens; it seemed mourning for him and for the boy who's sleeping peacefully on front of him.

As he was gazing steadily on the blonde boy, Sasuke sensed a familiar presence which is headed towards their direction in a frightening speed.

Kakashi.

Sasuke turned towards Naruto's figure and leant down, leaving a feather-light kiss on his lips.

This will be the last time.

At that Sasuke shakily stood up and climbed the fire country's border with much difficulty. He needed to leave this place before Kakashi arrived, he needed to go before the rain stops because Kakashi probably has Pakkun out, and he needed the rain to wash his scent. As Sasuke reached the top of the border, he looked down to where Naruto was sleeping.

"If I'm with you… I wonder if this would be like having a brother."

"Naruto, I don't want to be a brother to you". Sasuke whispered as he unsteadily walk away from the Fire country's border unconsciously wiping his blurring eyes.

I wouldn't want us to be brothers Naruto. Never.
