Hermione sighed.

The 10 year old girl turned restlessly in her bed. Her mum would be waking her up at any moment.

It was Summer Vacation. She didn't like summer vacation.

It was never any fun. Both her parents worked all day. Hermione didn't have any real friends to go to the park with.

And worst of, Summer vaction ment that there was no school.

Hermione loved school. She loved the books, the teachers, the learning. She loved it all! She wished it would go on all year.

'Hermione, dear time to wake up!'

Hermione kicked the light green comforter off her. Might as well make the best of the day. Maybe should would start to read a new book...

'Honey? Are you up?'

'Mmmm...Yes mum! I'll be down In ten minutes.'

'Make it five, Breakfast is allmost finnished cooking!'

Hermione sighed for the second time today as she quickly changed out of her pyjamas. She got up and moved nearer to the full lenghth veiw mirrow on the back of her door and started to thrust a brush through her very thick and very fuzzy hair. She wished hard that school would start soon. She turned to her left as she gave up on her hair. It was no use it never went nice. In front of her was a calendar. She ran her finger over the weeks as she counted.

'One, two, three weeks and, two days untill school. Not too bad.'

Just then Hermiones thoughts drifted off to her new school.

She was going to a private middle year school. They would only accept girls who excelled in school. The school had accepted her at once. Hermione was a very gifted student.

'It's only beacuse I like to read.' She told the School board at the meeting. They had been impressed.

Hermione turned back to the mirror and smiled widely. She was so very proud of her self.

Just then she heard a scream come from the kitchen door. Hermione raced down the stairs to the main level of the house. Hermione also screamed. There was a dark brown owl perched on her chair in the kitchen.

He mother was cowering in the corner. Her mum really disliked animals. But not Hermione. She was too smart for that. She new the owl would not hurt her. Hermione slowly aproached the beautiful bird as her mom let a tiny scream escape from her mouth.

'Hermione! Don't touch that bird!'

But Hermione wasn't listening her eyes where fixed on the bids talons... tied to it was a letter. Inscribed on the parchment in deep blue ink was Hermione Granger. Hermione gasped. The letter was for her.
