Chapter 1- A messenger

Rooney Bignose, an Edmontosaurus, woke up from his comfortable straw mattress with a blazing headache. He wondered if it had been the spring water he drank last night, but soon decided against it. After all, of the 41 years of his life, he had never had any problems whatsoever from drinking spring water from the Sacred Well, nor had he heard of any friends who had either. Not surprising, if you understand that the Sacred Well was the place the first High Dinosaurs had chosen as their base, from which they would create all species of dinosaur that ever existed. So if it wasn't the Sacred Well, what could it have been? This question, almost immediately after Rainy had thought it and was about to ponder on the issue, was interrupted by a thunderous boom, which resounded just outside his den. Judging by the volume of the noise, Rooney worked out it could only have come from a Albertosaurus, members of the ruling Tyrannosaurus family, and were therefore considered High Dinosaurs, even if they were minor members and only considered as servants to the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, they demanded absolute respect from all other inferior dinosaurs, Rooney, as an Edmontosaurus, being one. Any sign of disobedience or disrespect whatsoever could be punished by death.

This Albertosaurus, namely Backless Tworidge, was in fact an old friend of Rooney's, looking for him, being a rather old, and consequently quite wise, dinosaur to invite him to the royal court for a secret meeting on a major issue of the time, the lack of food for the rapidly growing dinosaur population. He went inside and there found Rooney kneeling down on the floor, as was the custom for when High Dinosaurs arrived, with refreshments ready to serve to the Albertosaurus.
