Title: Nancy's last thoughts

Characters: Nancy Makuhari/Ms. Deep, Yomiko, Ikkyu

Spoiler: I bit from the ending with Nancyall alone in the rocketbut I added more to it.

Disclaimer: Any characters from Read or Die aren't mine I'm just borrowing them for the fun of it since I love the show.

Authors note: This is my first shot at ROD fanfic and I hope all of you will like it. I think Nancy and Yomiko had such a great dynamic in the movie but it was so sad and I couldn't help to add a bit to what happened to Nancy even though I'm a big Nancy fan.

It pained Nancy to do what she had to do with Yomiko, pretending she was going to jump out of the rocket with her but instead she phased her hand from Yomiko's grasp the same way she did when they met in the basement of the bookstore in Jinbocho for the second time. After doing what she did, she returned back to where Ikkyu was and crouched to the floor beside him enfolding her arms around her legs.

"You were cruel and a heartless bastard…but even you don't deserved to die alone," Nancy murmured tearfully.

She stared at Ikkyu's dead body one more time before she looked around and spotted the bomb detonator Ikkyu was holding earlier. She knew in an instant what she must finish. When Yomiko cut the symphony cords, that only stopped the suicide symphony to be broadcasted all over the world but that didn't stop the rocket to continue its path to head out into space. Nancy stood up and picked up the detonator and stared at it for a long time.

She knew it only took one push of the button and all of this will be over but before Nancy could finish her act she walked towards the cold glass wall of the rocket. She placed her left hand to the glass as she peered at the paper parachute descending down with Yomiko in it for the very last time. She knew how Yomiko must feel right now, but at least she still has the other Nancy she could take care of. Nancy smiled remembering what Yomiko had said in between tears in the hospital after the chase with Genjo Sanzo in India. "…There's plenty of books out there, but there's only one Nancy and if we loose you that's it."

"Yomiko…" Nancy whispered softly as a single tear managed to fall down her cheeks. She couldn't help but feel sorry leaving Yomiko like this but her heart was torn in two."If only love wasn't this complicated but it just is and there's nothing else I can do to help it. I hope you and my younger sister would have better life together."

Then Nancy turned around and faced her dead lover's corpse again. She quietly headed back to her lover's side and stared at him with tears still flowing down her cheeks.

"Goobye Yomiko…" Nancy said in tears holding the detonator in her hand, and with those two words she pushed the button andthe rocket exploded to a million pieces.

Meanwhile…

Yomiko had tears flowing down her cheeks unable to stop crying knowing she had just lost one of the best partners she ever worked with in the British Library special operations unit. Then she noticed the crumpled bookmark she was holding in her hand. It said 'Please take care of my younger sister'. Yomiko stifled a sob as she vowed a promise to Nancy's last request.

I love feedbacks so don't forget to write one.
