The Gun was hot to her hands. She gasped and felt the air in her lungs catch, and let the gun drop to the floor, where it landed with a dull clang. Through her tear rimmed eyes she looked at it, and then thought to herself, "The Murder Weapon." She collapsed, a zillion thoughts racing through her head. She saw her and Ryan's first kiss, prom, trey on top of her pounding his fist into her chest, trey on top of Ryan, her love for Ryan. The way Trey had looked at her. And as Ryan reached out to touch her shoulder, she screamed.
"Oh my God!" "What's going on hereā¦"? "Seth, check his pulse, hurry!" "Was it Marissa"?
All she could hear were the questions, and all that she thought were the answers.
She saw Seth on the floor. "There's no pulse," he said, and Marissa could hear the knot in his throat. Summer screamed. Marissa looked up at Ryan, and she would never forget his expression. He had tears streaming down his face, with a look of defiance, mixed with sadness, pain, but, somehow, love. She turned, and Ryan's voice snapped her out of her dreamlike trance.
"So, where can we hide the body?"
